It’s a New Year! Happy 2024!
A new year can be a great opportunity to reflect on our relationships and what we can do to strengthen them. Just like we visit the doctor to check-up on our health, it is also important to check-up on our marriage routinely to be sure that we are one with our partner and we are on the same page
Life can get busy and stressful, and it’s easy for us to become distracted from each other and the core purposes for our marriage.
In the beginning, after God created Adam, He said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him” (Gen. 2:18). God then created the woman and presented her to Adam. Then Scripture declares this timeless principle: “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Gen. 2:24). Within this passage God clearly reveals His intention that a man and his wife are to become one flesh. Therefore, oneness is God’s ultimate purpose and goal for every marriage.
This oneness can be solidified when we carve out time to intentionally re-evaluate and set goals that help us journey through the year together; this purposeful action can help us create a more fulfilling partnership.
Having regular couples checkups are a great way to strengthen the foundation of your marriage and prepare you to navigate unexpected challenges; whilst carving out a plan on how to resolve them
Most couples talk about problems, tasks, the kids and other matters as a normal part of daily life, but rarely do they set aside a focused period of time to check-up on their marriage.
Check-up conversations are for the two of you to check-in with each other to see how loved and connected you feel, check if there are unresolved issues, unmet needs and be intentional about focusing on continuous improvement for your marriage on a short and long term basis.
This is why I created the Comprehensive Couples Check-up Templates & Guide – This template helps you to rate your overall relationship satisfaction.
